Gartenbau Strillinger relies on first-class project competence and services from SANSOL.
The Tyrolean company “Gartenbau Strillinger” has been producing potted and cut herbs in organic farming for three generations and is constantly expanding its production volume. Due to the excellent geographical location with the ideal framework conditions, year-round operation in plastic greenhouses is possible. The limited spatial expansion options at the location in the Tyrolean Unterland motivated the owner Michael Stillinger to develop a forward-looking optimization of production on the existing premises. In order to ensure healthy entrepreneurial growth, the entrepreneur decided to work closely with SANSOL.

Jennersdorf, August 8th, 2019 — The traditional family business “Gartenbau Strillinger” has specialized in the organic cultivation of high-quality potted herbs. His customers are primarily the Austrian food retail trade, which pays attention to quality, strict compliance with organic guidelines and requires good value for money. In order to be able to meet these requirements, the family business must plan efficiently and take factors that increase complexity into account. Short-term customer change requests require a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. The production and logistics solution must guarantee that the delivery process runs smoothly and that plants suffer as little damage as possible. Since the use of pesticides in organic farming is strictly regulated, the production processes from the seedling or cutting to the ready-to-deliver potted plant must be constantly optimized. The success proves the company right and further expansion is a positive additional challenge. In order to master these challenges successfully, the owner Michael Strillinger brought the project and technology expertise of SANSOL on board.

A specific project was the optimization of cuttings production at the site. With the FLEX-PRO series, which was developed in the SANlight laboratory and has been used several times, a light source was installed that is specially tailored to the needs of rooting cuttings in vertical cultivation. A broad spectrum reduces the rooting time and ensures strong young plants for subsequent production in the greenhouse. In order to achieve optimal results, the system was installed in an encapsulated vertical farm, which ensures optimal coordination of the microclimate with the exposure system. The selected light emission ensures a high degree of uniformity of light distribution in the working level with a compact storey height. The distance between the glow sticks is maximized. The result is a uniform growth of the cuttings in the five floors and in the growth room. The products used are optimally suited to the high humidity and increased ambient temperature. through the narrow

“Gartenbau Strillinger” achieves a market advantage in cooperation with SANSOL. Not only does the company increase the quality of its products and strengthen the young plants. Now, with reduced operating costs, the company can also demonstrate greater flexibility in the event of short-term changes in customer purchasing behavior and optimize the product range. And the expansion of the production area goes into the third dimension — upwards. “Gartenbau Strillinger” is up to the challenges of the future. Because the partnership with SANSOL enables a technologically flawless overall solution that optimally adapts to changing needs and framework conditions.
